Busitema University Convocation

The governance of the Busitema University Convocation is anchored in a strong legal, institutional, and administrative framework that ensures accountability, inclusivity, and effective leadership in advancing the interests of alumni and the university.

The Convocation derives its mandate from the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001 (as amended) and operates through established organs that guide decision-making, policy formulation, and implementation of convocation activities and projects.

Organizational Structure

The Convocation operates through the following key organs:

The General Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of the Busitema University Convocation. It comprises all registered members of the Convocation, representing the collective voice of Busitema University alumni.

The General Assembly is responsible for:

  • Providing strategic direction to the Convocation
  • Approving policies, major resolutions, and constitutional matters
  • Receiving and deliberating on reports from the Executive Committee and other organs

To support its operations, the Convocation maintains a Secretariat at the Main Campus, which serves as the administrative hub for coordination, communication, and record management.

The Busitema University Convocation Executive Committee is the principal organ responsible for the day-to-day administration, policy formulation, and implementation of Convocation activities.

The Committee provides leadership in:

  1. Strategic planning and execution of Convocation programs
  2. Oversight of projects, partnerships, and alumni engagement initiatives
  3. Financial management and resource mobilization
  4. Communication, publicity, and stakeholder engagement

This diverse composition ensures national representation, student linkage, and institutional continuity.

The Board of Trustees provides custodial and fiduciary oversight, particularly in relation to the management of immovable properties and long-term assets of the Convocation.

  • General Secretary of the Convocation (Ex-Officio)

The Board ensures that Convocation assets are managed responsibly and in alignment with the Convocation’s mission and the university’s strategic interests.
